Didn’t read it, but whatever the spending is it’s not enough for the move that was made by them, they are best running a club that is trying to fill a stadium of half that capacity.

Basically they can’t/won’t step up and have decided to make money from the doubling of the customer base.

Re: Sullivan propaganda campaign restarts?
Absolute nothing article. Again stating how much they have doesn’t on the team without mentioning what’s come in from selling.

We need to start highlighting whenever we can the average net spend per season in the ten years they have been there! This needs to be drummed into drivel of articles like this.

Anyone know the figure? 10 mil a season ??

Re: Sullivan propaganda campaign restarts?
I wish people would stop going on about net spend. Our owners are the 15th richest in the PL, so it's not that surprising that they don't spend loads more than what the club revenue is.

The real issue is their utter incompetence at running a football club.

1) The managerial merry go round, constantly swapping attacking passing football for a pragmatic direct style and then back again.
2) Sullivan handling transfers with his preferred agents and then when he did finally get a director of football he lets the manager pick him, and then sacks them both. The director of football should be planning things long term, getting the right players in for a certain style of play and choosing managers who will fit. If you do it the other way round then chances are you have to rebuild completely every 2-3 years, or usually even sooner in our case.
3) Lack of investment in training facilities and the academy. They may have made some improvements in the training facilities but we're still way behind other PL clubs. The owners actually thought the academy was a waste of money. Presumably they've seen the error of their ways now, seeing how much profit they'll get out of Rice, and how much players sell for now.
4) Media handling. They're a fucking joke and their own worst enemies. I have no doubt that this doesn't help their poor showing in commercial activities, seeing as they do all they can to make the club look like a 2 bob brand.

Plenty of other things but that'll do for now.

No, it won't do. Please carry on. IT's good reading.

Although one thing that we don't agree on is the net spend. It is a big issue for me. It is way below what was promised and, in fact, what is needed.

My other issue is the lack of long term investment plan. We should get a manager, give him a lot of money to spend. Then next window, spend less, then next window spend less and as the squad is fine tuned you should then only really be doing one or two transfers per window.

We have never had a spending plan and just go from spending too much to too little in a sort of fire firefighting approach.

goose 10:56 Wed Mar 4
Re: Sullivan propaganda campaign restarts?
they could have spent all that money if we had stayed at Upton Park.

the OS doesn't generate any more money so makes zero impact on the transfer spend.

what do you think of the PACE and INTENSITY of their spending Alf you boring prick?

Re: Sullivan propaganda campaign restarts?
Irrespective of how fucking useless and embarrassing they are I wish some journo would pull the three cunts up on the continuous lie they peddle about the net spend being over £200mil. It's more like £125mil, which is still fucking embarrassing considering the erratic and reactive nature of the purchases made over the last four years.

I was making one point from many. They continue to publish how much out ! Why don’t they talk about how much mi us ins? Because it shows them up for what they are.

I could mention all the other points but I didn’t.

It's Sky. Trying to repair damage after " hands in the till" fiasco. It's nothing really.

Re: Sullivan propaganda campaign restarts?
Obviously we'd all like it if they spent more, but what difference would it make? If they suddenly put £500m in the coffers they still wouldn't spend wisely. At best they'd probably buy a few galacticos who ended up dismal failures and impossible to shift off the wage bill.

My issue is that when fans go on about lack of spending then there are things that the owners can point to, excusing themselves, and ignoring that their incompetence is the real problem.

Not sure how accurate Transfermarkt is but according to them our net spend on transfers in the last 10 years is only beaten by Man Utd & City, Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool.

Very easy for GSB to point to figures like that and ask what do the fans expect?

Re: Sullivan propaganda campaign restarts?
To be fair, it’s far from the worst article of its kind - he’s a weird looking fucker, but does at least acknowledge the supporters frustrations rather than trying to make it sound like we should be grateful.

Sullivan is allowed to have friends, and he is also allowed to have his own side of the story, just as people can disagree.
The only thing that’s different is that there’s no mention of the other two cunts.
They’re the ones who mostly made the ludicrous promises – the bearded soundbyte tell everyone want they want to hear so they think I’m a nice bloke cunt, and the poisonous incompetent cunt who has had about as much business success as bolty has acquired knowledge.

Nagel 11:15 Wed Mar 4
Re: Sullivan propaganda campaign restarts?
ATBOG, according to that link I put below, our net spend is £293m.

To be honest I reckon we should highlight that they've actually spent quite a lot on transfers, because it actually shows how poorly they've spent, especially as Sullivan was in charge of transfers for most of that period. It's the kind of mismanagement that boards should get sacked for.

He's a billionaire so obviously he's not trying to make money from the Club, says Kaveh.

Except the interest payments. And the profit when they sell the Club. So probably just hundreds of millions.

goose 11:17 Wed Mar 4
Re: Sullivan propaganda campaign restarts?
personally i dont have an issue with the amount of money spent.
if anything the money wasted just highlights their inability to run a football club.

by problem is two things:

1. the move (from a generating money for players POV) was pointless.
2. they are terrible at running a football club.

Takashi Miike 11:29 Wed Mar 4
Re: Sullivan propaganda campaign restarts?
the in house agents have always been a problem since they bought the club, but was it any better under brown? they've always given with one hand and taken away with the other. now is probably the first time in many years that we've had a few sellable assets, so it will be interesting who they allow to move on in the summer if we stay up. jock allardyce's speech about rice possibly moving on may have been said with the dwarf's hand up his backside

Re: Sullivan propaganda campaign restarts?
Nagel 11:10 Wed Mar 4

That doesn't surprise me because we rarely sell players for more than we paid for them which in itself is a damning reflection of our transfer business. The situations around 2 of our best players in recent years (Payet and Arnie) were mismanaged so badly that we received well short of market value for the pair.

I think the main thing I got out of the article is that the guy who wrote it… was not a West ham fan… as he mentioned it…. About a fucking thousand times…
